The World Agronomist Association was founded on September 8, 1994 in Santiago de Chile by representatives of agronomist societies and associations from thirty countries in the World and dozens of delegated agronomists.
AMIA is an international, non-governmental, non-political, non-racial, non-religious and non-profit making international organization wholly managed for and by agronomists, and professionals in agronomy in general. The main aims of AMIA are to unify, represent and coordinate agronomists throughout the world, to defend and/or establish their rights and to promote the prestige of the profession, as well as encouraging equal rights for member colleagues and encouraging the establishment of academic excellence and professional ethics.
AMIA has become a high-level technical forum aimed at the social and economic development of the rural sector, ensuring adequate feeding of humanity and the preservation and protection of natural resources and the environment.
The aim of the association is to serve as a means of contact to mediate before governments, agricultural organisations, societies and associations, and in collaboration with international bodies.
It currently has numerous member associations that actively participate in the activities of the Association, and specifically at world congresses held every 4 years. |
